AMS Non-Inflatable Penile Implants

The AMS Spectra™, DURA II and AMS 650/600M are non-inflatable, concealable prostheses used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). The implants are always rigid, but their flexibility lets you position the rods in an erect or concealed configuration.
  • The Spectra Concealable Penile Prosthesis: The next-generation AMS non-inflatable penile implant. (Currently available in the U.S. only.) The new segmented design of alternating titanium and polyethylene segements in the Spectra™ prosthesis allows for excellent concealment compared with other non-inflatable implants.
  • The AMS DURA II: The Positionable Prosthesis is a simple effective solution for many men with ED. It is a non-inflatable penile implant for men requiring a more simple device. The DURA II is a good choice for men who have limited dexterity and want an implant with good rigidity. The segmented inner body allows you to move the prosthesis in any position while maintaining an erection stiff enough for intercourse.
  • AMS Malleable 650/600M models have a tapered silicone elastomer body for a natural shape, providing you with excellent girth while maintaining a firm erection.
Advantages

  • Easy for you and your partner to use
  • Good option for men with limited dexterity
  • Least expensive type of penile implant
  • Totally concealed within the body
  • Generally the simplest surgical procedure
Disadvantages
  • Remains firm when not erect
  • Must be bent down to conceal
  • Less appropriate for patients requiring repeated cystoscopy
